Hi, I'm Amy! I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but I've lived in the Raleigh area of North Carolina for 10+ years--long enough to like sweet tea and "unlike" August! I've owned and operated my interior decorating business, Red Chair Home Interiors, since 2005, and I started this blog in late 2008. If you need personalized decorating help, I offer affordable, in-home decorating services near Cary, NC, and virtual Skype consultations nationwide.
I'm not your "typical" interior decorator! I don't wear cleverly-knotted scarves, I don't have a fancy manicure, and I have no qualms about scouting the nearest Goodwill store for something--anything--to douse with spray paint! In my home, pillowcases get turned into curtains, curtains get turned into pillowcases, and the fruit bowl is actually an old light fixture.
When I'm not picnicking with my daughter or sliding sofas around with my clients, I enjoy snapping portraits, crafting cards, and making music. I play guitar, sing, and write songs in a band of women singer-songwriters called mollybond; we just released a new album called "House".
My goal as a blogger is to offer fresh content--original ideas, words, and photos--that you won't find elsewhere on the web. If you enjoy posts about home decorating and organizing, gardening, craft and DIY projects, and the occasional rant, rave, or recipe, please pull up a red chair and stay awhile!
